Release Notes March 2026 - Smarter Product Selection, Language Improvements & Bug Fixes
Release Notes March 2026
Smarter product selection, improved language handling, built-in bug reporting, and an important fix for cancellation calculations.
Smarter Product Selection with Warengruppen
Product selection for analyses has been significantly improved. Previously, articles had to be selected individually, or when a product group was selected, all individual products of that group were simply added. Customer feedback told us this wasn’t particularly intuitive. Now, when selecting a product group, Bytewurst asks whether the entire Warengruppe should be added or just the search results within the group.
When a complete Warengruppe is selected, it appears as a named group in the filter bar. This makes it much faster to set up comparisons across product categories.
Charts now display these groups correctly too: group names appear in the legend, and tooltips work for grouped items as well — so it’s always clear what you’re looking at.
Language Detection & Persistence
We’ve overhauled how Bytewurst handles languages. The app now defaults to your browser’s language settings on first visit, so German-speaking users see the German interface right away without having to switch manually.
Once the language is changed, the preference is saved in a cookie and remembered across sessions. On the next visit, you’ll be automatically redirected to your preferred language.
Built-in Bug Reporting
Found something that doesn’t look right? Bytewurst now includes a built-in bug reporting mechanism. In the “Known Bugs” section of each page, you can submit a report directly via a form — no email client needed, no detours.
Fix: Cancellation Calculation in BonTok & Reports
We identified and fixed an important bug in the revenue calculations.
When interpreting the cash register data, certain discounts were incorrectly treated as cancellations. This could cause valid revenue to be excluded from the totals. Affected areas:
- The receipt total filter in BonTok — receipts could disappear when filtering by minimum total, even though the displayed sum was above the threshold.
- Revenue calculations in the Umsatz Report, which could undercount revenue for affected receipts.
The fix ensures that only actual cancellations are treated as such — matching the correct business logic and the receipt display.
Better Error Messages
When a year hasn’t been uploaded yet, the app now shows a friendly, human-readable error message instead of a cryptic technical error. Small things that make a big difference in day-to-day use.
Summary
This release focuses on making Bytewurst more intuitive to use and more reliable in its calculations. The Warengruppen selection saves time when setting up analyses, the language improvements remove friction for new users, and the cancellation fix ensures that your revenue numbers are accurate.
As always, if you run into any issues, you can now use the built-in bug report feature to let us know directly.
